Life and Business Mastery: 4 Unique Ways to Find Your Passion

Life and Business Mastery: 4 Unique Ways to Find Your Passion

  1. Ask yourself these three simple questions

Finding your passion may actually be quite easier than you initially thought. By simply answering these questions honestly, then you could be able to work out exactly what to do with the rest of your life. “What subject could I read 500 books about without getting bored?”

“What could I do for five years straight without getting paid?”

“What would I spend my time doing if I had complete financial abundance to do anything?”

  1. Find the things that you are mediocre at

Even if they do not possess exceptional skills at any one specific thing, most people have a lot of areas in which they are “okay” at.  If you fuse your mediocre skills together, you might be able to find your passion. For example, say you are an average artist, with a decent sense of humor, he explains, you won’t have much hope with an art degree, and you cannot exactly study humour as a subject but you can be a an awesome cartoonist. Or take an example of an average business student who possesses considerable programming ability and decent sales skills. That person can be surprisingly well suited to become the manager of others who are better skilled than he is in any one of those areas.

The most successful people, are the ones who are most passionate about their work, and are almost never defined by a single skill. They are a fusion of different skills, often this skills are not very exceptional but through the fusion they have made the resultant fusion exceptional. For instance Steve Jobs was not the world’s greatest engineer, salesperson, designer or businessman. But he was uniquely exceptional at them when they were fused together.

  1. Forget the “Eureka!” Moment

Inspiration may strike some people relatively fast in an instant whereas for others it takes a while and a lot of considerable effort. I recommend spending about 20 minutes each day reflecting on the things that have interested you recently, or any opportunities that you have spotted. Your true passion isn’t simply realized overnight but is realized only through a series of discoveries of small interests. I have always seen thinking and meditating as an ideal process of analyzing your mind which ends up leading to self-discovery of your true passion.

Try asking your close friends and family what exactly they think you should be doing with your life. They will have an answer for you. But don’t simply put people on the spot abruptly, as this may cause them to rush their answers.

If any of your dearest and nearest friends has a passion or a hobby, offer to spend some time with them and help them out in their endeavor and see whether you can learn something. Experiment with new activities whether it’s a new language, a new sport or a new craft see whether you like doing it or whether you enjoy it. It may be a new passion waiting to be discovered.

  1. Work out what you hate doing & What you Love doing

List all the jobs or tasks that you absolutely loathe. The ones that you can’t stand doing. Once you have eliminated these options from your list then your true passion may become clearer. In addition to this you can look into the things which, when you start doing you lose track of time. That might be a great sign that you are passionate about that particular activity. Creating a list of all the people you are jealous of can greatly aid you in getting more clarity on the issue. Going back to the innocence of childhood, may greatly help you in this quest also. This is because during our early years our worldview was more pure than it is now after the polluting effects of growth and maturity. It is important to ask yourself this simple yet vital question: “Who do I envy the most because of the work they do?” List all the people who you look up to or envy then look at the work they do, and try those things. You might find your passion from that list.
