Kenya Railways unveils SMS payment platform for Madaraka Express tickets 

Kenya Railways has released an SMS based payment code that enables travelers to buy Madaraka express tickets through a USSD code. By dialing *639#, passengers can now book, pay and even cancel tickets for the Madaraka Express train service between Nairobi and Mombasa, with brief stops at Mtito Andei and Voi. The SMS payment option will also enable passengers to make payments via MPESA and will be available from Saturday, September 23, 2017.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to hire street children as cleaners

The Nairobi County government willl now hire street children in the Central Business District as cleaners. The urchins will also be provided with housing by the county government. These are but a few of new measures announced by County Governor Mike Sonko. Speaking when he met a group of the street children at City Hall, Sonko said the promise to take care of the street children is on condition that they will cease using drugs and engaging in criminal activity.
