Lyric Lab – Well at least now we know what those videos on “Akothee going mad” were about

Diamond Platnumz – ENEKA

Diamond Platnumz has released quite a few songs in a short space of time and visually the wear might not show but sonically it does. ENEKA sounds more Naija than anyone might anticipate but that is not necessarily the weakest aspect of the song. ENEKA is simply nothing new, especially from diamond who has built his entire artistry on making love songs. It’s not the greatest song from him but the video directed by Sesan is nice to look at.

Akothee – Baby Daddy

Well at least now we know what those videos about “Akothee going mad” were about. Leaving aside the actual song, Akothee should win an Oscar for this video. It’s very convincing and there is a lot of unexpected sincerity from the singer, maybe because there is some truth to the story. The song itself is unexpected seeing as most of Akothee’s songs are flashy and upbeat, this was a most welcome break.

Wayinke – Zama

The second release from upcoming songbird Wayinke is creatively her crowning glory. The production for this cut is nothing like you’ve heard before. It’s a looping beat with some synths thrown in there for the hook but it’s mesmerising. The video, which has been dipped in a red tint, is a hazy mashup of bits and pieces but it works in this slow, seductive way.
