The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has slammed yesterday’s launch of a digital campaign by President Uhuru Kenyatta enumerating the Jubilee administration’s achievements as a portal of lies.
The opposition party today in a response to the online portal launched by the head of state termed it as a false record as most Kenyans could not relate to strides the government claims to have made in the four years it has been in power.
“The portal is a summary of lies by the Jubilee government and is very suspicious as it has been launched conveniently in an election year,” ODM director of elections Junet Mohamed said.
The Suna East MP noted that the current regime has been fooling Kenyans with public relations gimmicks with yesterday’s launch coming as an addition to three more websites (mygov.go.ke, huduma.co.ke, statehouse.co.ke) that have been unveiled since coming into power.
“Do we need another PR Portal that more than 70% of Kenyans cannot access for us to understand the impact of this government’s incompetence? There is more evidence in our pockets daily and in our homes,” he added.
President Kenyatta in a glitzy event at the KICC launched the government’s delivery portal highlighting its track record in its 11 flagship programmes, milestones across the government’s 21 ministries, and national government programmes in the country’s 47 counties.
Junet faulted the government for failing to tackle the corruption menace pointing out that the administration has been on a war fron with independent offices such as the Auditor General who questioned the use of the controversial Sh260 billion Eurobond loan in 2015.
