Bobby Mapesa x Calvo Mistari – SEMA

This song is interesting. In old school Bobby Mapesa fashion, the tune is super sexual and super strange. It’s also odd seeing Calvo Mistari saying, “First undress, nikucaress. Au nikureplace, staki stress,” so soon after ‘Urembo.’ Anyway the one utterly superb aspect to this song is the video. The visuals are clean, sharp and still vivid. ODIBZ did a great job on this one. But the rest of the song, no matter how cool the punchlines might be, is no big win.

Jah Prayzah ft. Mafikizolo – Sendekera

What are these people saying? On a serious note though anything with Mafikizolo in it is bound to be fun and ‘Sendekera’ is no different. From the visuals the up-tempo tune tells a story of a guy who is clearly into a school girl –with a very short skirt—played by Mafikizolo’s Nhlanhla Nciza. She rebuffs Jah Prayzah after he asks her out and lo and behold they run into each other in a club. Again, it’s a fun song produced by DJ of the moment, Maphorisa.

Mercy Masika – Shule Yako (Nifunze)

It is apparent that Mercy Masika can do no wrong and ‘Shule Yako’ will prove that. Although we can’t take apart the subject matter let’s look at the visuals, shall we? The video is on the simple side with Mercy Masika sitting in a grassy swath with those chairs that will remind you of high school. These are interspersed with shots of her and her dancers. It’s a decent song but not her greatest lyrically speaking and the beats do sound a bit too passé.
