Muraguri, Mwangi among PSs moved in mini-reshuffle by President Kenyatta

Irrigation Principal Secretary Patrick Mwangi has been moved in a reshuffle of heads of state departments announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta today.

Mr Mwangi who has recently been on the spotlight for ignoring an advice from both the Attorney general and his boss Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa to award a tender to a firm that was the second lowest bidder has been moved to the Ministry of Industrialisation and Enterprise Development where he will serve in the same capacity as PS. He will be replace by Zeinab Hussein who has been moved from gender affairs.

President Kenyatta said the reshuffle is part of the government’s ‘continuing endeavor to improve the efficiency of public service delivery to Kenyans’.

A total of 12 Principal Secretaries have been affected by the reshuffle.

Health’s Nicholas Muraguri who was also in the news recently over the doctors’ strike and the alleged Sh5 billion scandal at the ministry has been moved to Lands. His place will now be taken by Julius Korir.

Dr Muraguri will take over from Mariam El-Maawy who moves to public works.

Mwanamaka Mabruki of Devolution has been moved to gender affairs with Planning and Statistics Saitoti Torome appointed the new Defence Principal Secretary.


Paul Maringa Mwangi has been moved from Public works to Transport where he takes over from Irungu Nyakera with the latter moving to replace Torome at as the new Planning and Statistics PS.

Sports development PS Richard Ekai is the new PS for Correctional Services. He will be replaced by Peter Kaberia who has been moved from defence.

Micah Pkopus Powon is the new devolution PS. He will replace

“The President has purposed the changes to enhance teamwork and to improve the accountability for results in the execution of the government’s responsibilities,” State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu said in a statement released today.
