Only one ‘Kenyan’ artiste to perform at the One Africa Music Fest

Only one ‘Kenyan’ artiste to perform at the One Africa Music Fest
  • The One Africa Music Fest is hailed as the ‘Biggest African concert’
  • It is set to go down on May 13th 2017

One Africa Music Fest might be hyped as the biggest African concert but the show is taking place at the SSE Arena in Wembley, London.

A great big number of African artistes will be gracing the stage among them, Awilo Longomba, Davido, Ali Kiba, Flavour, Tekno, Tiwa Savage and Cassper Nyovest.

Considering the grand scale of this concert it would be natural to assume that Kenya would get some love but apparently not. The only Kenyan artiste who will showcase at the event is Victoria Kimani. Who admittedly is Kenyan but not based in Kenya and has a more worldly sound to her music.

Full disclosure there also seems to only be one Tanzanian and South African artiste on the line up but they at the least bit based in their home countries.

During the previous edition of the show held in Houston, Texas, there were zero Kenyan acts. Maybe it’s a sign we should step our game up. But as one commenter notes on the organiser’s Facebook page, “Its more like OneWestAfricanMusicFest.”
