On March 6, 2017, startup heroes, CEOs and investors listened to ideas from innovators , all in the back of an Uber taxi. The UberPITCH theme ‘Innovation to solve pressing local and global challenges’ saw entrepreneurs receive the opportunity to pitch innovative business ideas to investors.
Following a shortlisting process, accepted applicants received an exclusive promo code which they keyed in to their Uber accounts. On Monday March 6 between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm, selected participants chose the UberPITCH option in their Uber apps to get the chance to present their ideas to investors in a 15-minute Uber ride. Finalists with the top pitches were invited for a special event held at the Mettā on March 9th where they interacted with some of Kenya’s leading investors and business leaders.
