Nameless and Big Pin pour their hearts out in memory of E-sir

  • Issah Mmari died in a road accident on March 16th 2003 on his way back to Nairobi after performing at a concert in Nakuru
  • He was signed to Ogopa deejays and is regarded as a great lyricist and one of the best of the best rap artistes of his time
  • He won best male hip hop artiste, best album of the year (Nimefika) and song of the year (Boomba train) in the 2003 Kisima music awards

Kenyan celebs Nameless and Big Pin have today taken to social media to pour their hearts out in remembrance of a fallen comrade Issah Mmari Wangui popularly known in the entertainment circles as E-Sir. Its been 14 years today since the demise of one of Kenya’s finest acts who has remained a household name and a legend.

The phenomenal popularity of his music disapproved the myth that Kenyan music could never compete with imported pop. Even long after his death, he is still widely regarded as one of the best rappers to emerge on the Kenyan hip hop scene. He is known for the songs Boomba train, Leo ni Leo, Saree, Hamunitishi, Nimefika ‘Jo’ and Moss Moss.

E-Sir died in a road accident on March 16, 2003, while in the company of fellow label mate and singer Nameless ( David Mathenge).
