Embakasi South MP Irshad Sumra has proposed for the formation of a committee to oversee the use of the Ksh11 billion drought mitigating funds released by government
Sumra said the committee will among other things prevent diversion of the resources by Jubilee government to finance its campaign.
A fortnight ago, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich announced that a total of Ksh11 billion had been set aside to cater for families affected by drought.
“Up to now since the money was allocated, we have not seen the government bringing any food to this drought-stricken areas. Where is the money being taken, or is it used to finance Jubilee campaigns,” Sumra lamented.
