Activist opens up on ‘deadly’ threats on his life as he jets back into the country

Award winning photojournalist and human rights activist Boniface Mwangi has penned a heart-felt piece on social media in which he has broken his silence on death threats on his life as well as that of his family. The husband and father of three who has been on tour in the US to publicise his book ‘Unbounded’ in the piece revealed that the threats have escalated to include his family. The Starehe constituency MP hopeful who jetted into the country today has however vowed to continue the fight to free Kenya from corrupt individuals. He is expected to record statements with police. Nigerian star Adekunle Gold to launch E.A media tour in Kenya

YBNL Nation Nigerian artiste Adekunle Gold of the acclaimed ‘Gold’ album will be in Nairobi, starting February 1st to launch his debut East African media tour – to start in Nairobi before heading to Tanzania. Adekunle has emerged as one of the fastest rising Nigerian music stars in the continent, celebrated for his unique style of music – Urban Highlife. Releasing his debut album GOLD last year, the songs: Orente, Pick Up, and Ready emerged as some of the leading and successful hit singles. It also made it to #7 on Billboard in the first week of release. Adekunle’s 16-track GOLD album enlisted top Nigerian producers including Masterkraft, Seyikeyz, Oscar, Pheelz, B Banks and Sleekamo. Ahead of his anticipated Kenyan visit and media tour dubbed “Adekunle Gold Nairobi Media Tour”, he says,

“I’ve been getting a lot of love from Kenya – many people say that even though they don’t understand my language my music is beautiful,” adding on his overall identity and expression: “I am 100% African at heart – and my style is super traditional African. I don’t deny or feel shy of my roots and I make that clear everyday by the things I say and how I dress. I am into colourful prints and tie and dye.”

Disney’s upcoming Beauty and the Beast reboot trailer has been released and it features one beauty of a duet in Ariana Grande and John Legend. Pop princess Ariana Grande and GRAMMY-winning crooner John Legend teamed up to record the beloved title track for the live action film’s soundtrack which is about two-and-a-half minute. The theme song became a Disney classic after Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson performed it in the original 1991 animated film. While Legend and Grande may have taken over the song, Dion will still be making her mark on the movie, which opens on Mar. 17.
