Kool and the Gang Kick of the day

Emergency

The title track off their 16th studio album Emergency, this tune showcased the band’s chops as an electro pop ensemble stepping away from the funk and jazz that that first gained them airplay. A track of the time, ‘Emergency’ bears a striking resemblance to ‘Victory’ in terms of composition and video quality although it is decidedly slightly less catchy. This one beats out the latter only because it is s slightly less awkward watch.

Fun Fact: Despite not necessarily being, creatively, their best work Emergency was the band’s hottest selling studio album. The album acquired Double Platinum certification in America. All this in spite having one of the cheesiest album covers that has ever existed.
