MP Outa freed on Sh100,000 cash bail

Nyando MP Fred Outa has been released on a cash bail of Sh100,000 after spending Tuesday night in jail.

Senior Principal Magistrate Julius N’garn’gar alternatively granted him a surety bond of Sh300,000.

Outa was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly inciting students at Ahero Girls High School to strike, leading to the indefinite closure of the school.

He was also charged with causing the destruction of school property and causing disturbance.

The MP denied all the charges.

The students were protesting against the interdiction of their principal who is alleged to have embezzled funds, when the MP joined them and questioned police presence.

This is the third interdiction of the principal, after the Teachers Service Commission reversed the earlier two interdictions.

In the meantime, Kisumu leaders led by the Governor Jack Ranguma called for a healthy working relationship between the security officers and elected leaders in the county.

Ranguma promised to initiate dialogue between the MP and Nyando Sub County deputy county commissioner following the alteration that led to the arrest of the legislator.
