Trey Songz hands street kid sh 5000

 American RnB artiste Trey Songz who is in the country for Coke Studio Season 4 mashups is the talk of town after he handed a street child sh. 5000. The artiste was touring the Nairobi CBD clad in the Harambee stars football team jersey when he had an encounter with the boy. ‘This little dude was alone with his empty cup in busy downtown Nairobi and he just looked at me and smiled as we were walking. I gave him the equivalent of like 50 dollars.Then I asked him if I could take a picture with him. Something about how big and beautiful his spirit was, while holding an empty cup put a lot of things in perspective for me. Overwhelmed with gratitude in these moments. Love my people so much,’ the artiste later captioned the photo when he uploaded it on social media. 

 Sonko to front bill on free sanitary towels

Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi ‘Sonko’ has vowed to sponsor a bill into Parliament that will push for the free distribution of sanitary towels to the girl child. This comes after a fierce online debate this past weekend that saw many a female on social media champion for free sanitary towels from the government instead of free condoms. ‘I have seen the hashtag and as a Senator I will draft a bill to that effect. Condoms should be for SALE, sanitary pads should be for FREE. Sex is a choice, menstruation is not. Some girls are struggling out there,’ the Senator posted. 

Albinism society of Kenya to stage beauty pageant

Persons living with albinism are set to participate in the first ever Mr and Miss Albinism beauty pageant. The event which is set to be staged at the Carnivore simba Salon on 21st of October 2016 is expected to fight stigma and discrimination associated with albinism. Fronted by nominated Member of Parliament Isaac Mwaura who has been in the frontline in defense of persons with albinism, the winners of the title will be ambassadors who will traverse the country and beyond to sensitize on albinism.
