Justice Maraga Appointed New Chief Justice

The Judicial Service Commission has nominated Justice David Maraga to be the next Chief Justice of Kenya. Maraga who is now waiting for President Kenyatta’s approval will take over from Willy Mutunga who retired in June 2016.

Up until his nomination Justice Maraga was a high court Judge in Nairobi.

Among those he beat in the highly contested race include Makau Mutua, Alnashir Visram and Smokin Wanjala.
