New act: 411 Society

Tell us about your sound

Basically we do Urban HIPHOP with an RnB fusion but the most unique thing about our sound is the Luo vibe we incorporate into the music.

How did you get your start in the industry?

Setting up our own studio was a major starting point for us. We then started our music label called HITITTES music which is made up of the 411 Society, Chris lax, Ojwok photography and Dj Anam who are all based in Kisumu. Also, our local fans have entirely been our greatest pedestal during this journey, a lot of our thanks goes back to them.

What would you say is the message of your music?

411 Society addresses current issues in the society hence the name ’411.’ Our message targets every member of the society since we intend to encourage everyone who listens to our music and we espouse a few life skills which is evident from our previous mixtapes (2 22s, Care less, U-musik, 3c s & FACTS) and now gODzILLER which we are yet to release.

Who inspires you?

We get our inspiration from music groups the likes of Sauti Sol, Camp Mulla and a few other individuals who have taken their music to the next level in terms of going international. They surely impart positivity in their music and we have always believed in ourselves to do the same.

What are you working on currently?

We just shot an expensive mainstream music video for our new jam ‘MaiYe’ (Chris Lax, 411 Society X Flaqo Raz) this is to be released on the 29th of this month (August), besides that, we are currently working on our mixtape gODzILLER with 16 tracks that includes songs like ‘MaiYe’, ‘OTM’ (on the map), the 2015 award-winning song ‘Chalnade’ and more yet to be released.

Are there any artistes, both established and new, that you would love to work with?

Yeah, we would like to work with old school hip-hop artistes and singers the likes of Didge and maybe Sauti Sol.

Do you ever listen to your own music on your playlists?

Affirmative…we have them on our MP 4s, laptops, iPhones and of course in town and our music plays every time the phone rings [laughs].

Which event/stage would you just love to perform?

One word, GRAMMYS.

Group members(Jimmy Oyuko (Cornrows),Tyler Omune (Tyler),Larry Jones(Chris Lax) and Cliff Makori (Obizy)
