Pretty up keyrings with this leather tassel

Store bought key holders are all well and good but a cute, cheaper and more fun option would be to create a your own leather tassel that will work just as well and look way better than anything that could be purchased in a supermarket.

The materials needed for this project are simple and easy to find. A 6 × 9” inch strip of leather, the colour can be any that you wish, a keychain, a pair of scissors and some glue.

First cut off a centimetre to an inch longs strip of leather off the length of the leather. Follow this by cutting numerous little strips of the remaining piece of material. They could be up to a quarter of an inch wide. Don’t cut all the way through, leave about an inch at the top that will be used to gather the leather strips together.

Take the first strip of leather that was cut off the initial piece and ‘thread’ it through the keyring. Fold it in half and fasten the lose end with glue.

Roll the leather strips so that it forms one tasselled portion and use the glue to hold the gathering securely. Halfway through the rolling motion glue the leather piece attached to the keyring in the tassels. Continue gluing as you roll it up until the tassel is finished and there you have it!
