Game of Thrones leads 2016 Emmy Nominations

The list of the 68th Emmy Awards nominees is out with HBO Fantasy series Game of thrones leading the pack with an outstanding 23 nominations, making history once again after topping the list last year as well with 24 nominations.

First time nominees Maisie Williams and Kit Harrington have been nominated in the Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series respectively.  They are going head to head for the award with their fellow cast members Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage who won the award last year.

The show’s writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have also been nominated for the Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series category.

This year’s award ceremony will take place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on September 18th.
