Kisii University Tops scouts’ Regional Competition

Kisii University scouts have emerged winners in the regional scout championship competition. The two crews (male and female) famously known as Flamingo Kings and Queens were pronounced winners of the lake region cluster super region competitions held from last week in Migori County. The scout unit had also represented Kenya twice in East Africa scout competitions held in Rwanda and Kenya winning the title twice and becoming the leading institutions in scouting.

Daystar University unveils third VC

Prof Mary Murimi is the third Vice Chancellor of Daystar University. The announcement was made during the 38th graduation ceremony at Athi River Campus. This comes at a time when the university is geared towards setting up distance e-learning.

“My own journey began in a very humble way. I was the first child and my father was a driver who only earned Sh30 per month,” she said.

Moi University in trouble over Sh5billion graft claims

The universities academic staff union (UASU) has now written to the EACC asking for investigations into claims of Sh5billion graft at Moi University. Jack Abok the secretary general of UASU said that they had presented a seven page document that has details on areas they would like to be investigated.

“We have a seven-page document which elucidates the problems we have been facing due to financial mismanagement and we have sent the copies to the relevant bodies. We hope action is taken fast because there is the habit of spending money to cover up on the wrongs already done,” he said.

The loss of funds and misuse happened during Prof Mibey’s reign thus the decision to engage the University Council in a bid to redeem the institution.
