Nairobi University student wins Chinese bridge competition

Ruth Kimani a third year student from the University of Nairobi emerged top after competing against 15 other students at the Chinese bridge competition held at the University of Nairobi.

Ruth said her inspiration to learn the language came from her father who had difficulty in communicating his working Chinese colleagues who could not speak in English.

“My father could not speak Chinese with his colleagues despite working with them and the Chinese could not also speak in English.”

After being crowned the winner she pointed out that she is eager to bring home the win from the global competition to be held later in the year.

Shock as UoN Students are nabbed for robbery with violence

Five students from the University of Nairobi who have been terrorizing people at lower Kabete Kiambu County were yesterday morning arrested by the police. They were ambushed by the police officer while fighting over a loot that took place at a rental room at lower Kabete where it is said that the students have been robbing off values from the residents.

The officers managed to recover homemade guns and other weapons including drugs from the students who were also at that time found high on illegal substances.

Kikuyu OCPD Birgen Kiptoo said the investigations are underway over the allegations laid on the suspects. He also called on residence who have been robbed to record a statement and give any information that will help in conducting the investigations conclusively.

Strathmore blogger wins a World Bank blog #Blog4Dev contest

Mercy Anyango a third year Economics and Finance student from Strathmore university was able to get an opportunity most bloggers only dream of and just on her first attempt at blogging. She wrote a 500 word essay on the interaction between financial inclusion and businesses this earned her a fully – paid expense to Washington, USA after emerging the winner in the World Bank blog 4 dev contest.

During her tour to Washington City she will attend the World Bank spring meeting and participate in development deliberations alongside finance ministers Of WB officials.
