Five plants to grow indoor for natural home air purification

Aloe Vera

The magical Aloe Vera plant is an effective absorber of household toxins that contaminate the air after they are emitted by household chemical cleaning agents and paint. Some of these toxins include benzene and formaldehyde which if taken into the body for a long time can cause breathing problems and even cancer in high amounts. Besides, it is always advisable to have an aloe Vera plant in the house since the plants gel comes in handy as first aid treatment for cuts, burns and malaria symptoms. Unlike most plants, Aloe Vera absorbs carbon dioxide and gives out oxygen at night.

English Ivy

English Ivy mainly absorbs formaldehyde from cleaning agents and treatment chemicals for furniture and carpets. Its air cleaning strength mostly lies in its ability to reduce the amount of airborne fecal matter from pets thus reducing possibility of human beings catching medical conditions arising out of air contamination.

Spider plant

If you have a lot of leather and rubber products in your house, then the Spider Plant is your best friend due to its benzene, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide and xylene absorbing properties. The Spider Plant leaves also efficiently absorb mold and several other allergens, making it a perfect house plant for individuals suffering from air-related allergies.

Chinese evergreen

Many home owners shy away from growing house plants because they often forget to water them and they eventually dry up and die. With the Chinese evergreen plant which purifies the air by absorbing toxins and chemicals from aerosol home products, possible negligence is not an excuse because the plant actually prefers minimal watering.

Dracaena

This common plant is popular for its ability to purify the air from Benzene and xylene produced from paper printing ink. This makes it the best house plant to grow in your home office where you are likely to print several documents in the course of a day.
